Happy New Year All!
There’s been many months of creativity…and some real horror, but more on that later!
Where to start…I’ve travelled, loved, lost, pondered motherhood and marriage, continued to finish projects and expanded in areas of artistry that kind of took off in positive ways I didn’t expect.
When we approach a new year, there’s always an expectation of a rebirth, to make epic plans for big change, to do something incredible and new!
Well, I can say for once in my life, I’m taking a sabbatical from these expectations and pressures.
I don’t know what the future holds for myself (until I get my own psychic reading haha) or the world for that matter, but I know that being happy, healthy and virtuous in whatever I do is enough for now. The rest, well, let’s see what unravels. I could make a list of all the things to complete, that I must fight for, but I won’t be doing that right now.
My true determination is inner happiness, healing and discovering what my purpose is going forward and building some roots.
That said, there are still some exciting things that happened last year and I’m sure will continue over 2023 starting with…
Psychic Simret Updates
I decided to do a relaunch of my website and had a fantastic photoshoot with my best friend and Make-Up Artist/Designer Sammm Agnew and awesome Filmmaker/Photographer friend Andy Edwards, along with Designer and Fashion Assistant Ava! Together we managed to pull off twelve looks in one day! It was tight, but with our super creative and driven trio, we went for gold! You can check out our BTS below.
October was also a blast and I was booked solidly for Halloween week. Then I had a residency at The Brewery in London for five weeks solid during November up until Christmas. It was pretty relentless with many costume changes, but working with fellow performers and magicians were truly amazing.
You can check out my new photos/gallery on my website.
Travel Adventures
During the summer, I had the opportunity to cat sit in Paris and explore a little even whilst working remotely! You can check out my blog post where I talk about my memories of Paris here. I also visited an immersive under sea restaurant which you can read more about here.
I also visited the Musée de la Magie which was filled with some great artefacts and even had a whole section on fake spiritism which really piqued my interest. You can watch the video and read up about it here.
After Paris, I visited Portugal where I had some more adventures, including shooting a music video in some pumpkin fields…that’ll be fun to edit when I eventually get around to it! And venturing the mysterious and magical town of Sintra where I went off the beaten track foraging with a Shaman where we picked Eucalyptus leaves, lemon grass and lavender along with doing tarot in a forest! There’s no better place to do that than in Sintra!
I then returned back to Paris in September to unwind in Montmartre and lived a Parisian life, ate way too much fromage and cured meats…so much for being a pescatarian. I even ventured Dieppe in Normandy just before Halloween and got caught in one of the biggest storms of the year there! Then I spent some time in Canada, Vancouver and Toronto, but that’s another newsletters worth!
Nonetheless, where did the year go?! I’m sure some of you are thinking the same thing!
Now For The Horror…
Back in June I had severe food poisoning that literally caught me off-guard. I was on the motorway driving back to London from Brighton when all of a sudden I began to projectile vomit (and more) all over myself. It was a 4-hour ordeal where I had to be rescued from the motorway, a rescue of which was organised my bestie Sammm who thanks to her work as a psychotherapist, was able to direct me to safety. If you’re in need of a therapist specialising in neurodivergence, you can reach Sam here.
According to my Aunt who’s an ex-nurse, if the ambulance didn’t arrive any sooner, I could’ve died from organ failure. Nonetheless, I can’t thank the South East Coast Ambulance service enough, the highway patrol who shut off the lanes on the motorway, St Peters Hospital in Guildford and the paramedics who fought for me to have a shower, preserving my dignity when I wasn’t allowed one because I was in the observation ward. The body truly is amazing, I battled with it, I was embarrassed by it, I worried for it, I loathed it and in the end felt that I even gave up on it. In Buddhism, there’s a saying called ‘Three thousand realms,’ which I think I can associate with even more so after this experience:
“A single moment of life” indicates one’s life as it exists at any given moment. “Three thousand realms” refers to all phenomena—all things and their varied functions. The principle of three thousand realms in a single moment of life teaches that a single moment of life includes three thousand realms, and life at each moment permeates and pervades all of them.
Anyhow, we are so lucky to have the NHS and I’m alive because of it.
This experience inspired me to recall a supernatural fictionalised version of my story. You can see the film here:
Thank you all for reading my newsletter and please feel free to subscribe and remember that all of the content on here is exclusive.
I also have some paranormal erotic stories, so you can buy me a Ko-fi if you wish!
Have a brilliant 2023 and beyond everyone!
